I was very excited to learn that the FabScraps French Heritage range has a keen focus on BIRDS, elegant ones such as the peacock used in today's mixed media canvas. Here is what I started with today:
X-Press It Canvas
X-Press It TripleTac
X-Press It Clear Gel Glue
FabScraps Paper: French Heritage Collection--Peacock Magic 2
FabScraps Charm and Pearls
FabScraps Birdcages Chipboard
FabScraps Peacock Chipboard
Atelier Free Flow Pthalo Green Paint
Chromacryl Fluid Concentrate Violet Paint
The Peacock 2 Paper was a great base for this project, with X-Press It TripleTac all papers are easily adhered to the canvas:
The above photo also shows the start of texture building by way of paste through a stencil, a very important part of texture build is different layers of paint, see how different the paper looks once you start the paint layering process:
Rubbing half dry paint brushes over the surface really helps to add to the depth of colour, whilst allowing the paper elements to remain in focus:
Then it is simply just a case of layering up all of the chipboard and elements. For this canvas I have incorporated a piece of vintage lace, and a swag of FabSraps Pearls and Gems inter dispersed with twine coils, and pre-purchased flowers, secured with TripleTac and Clear Gel Glue:
The combination of paper and texture (through paint) provides a great base to showcase the loveliness of the FabScrpas Chipboard elements; the themed papers and embellishments make little pieces of art come together with ease and speed. Which bird do you like the most in the French Heritage range?
Until next time,
This is gorgeous Edna. I love how you've built up all the layers. That half dry brush technique is really interesting and one I'm going to have to try! Love the peacock and cages and the pearls and gems dotted around the place. So beautiful! Thanks for sharing!
